Playa Grande is the main beach in Puerto del Carmen, and one of the most popular on the island. The long, sandy beach and crystal clear waters attracts many holiday makers with easy access to the Avenida which has a great choice of shops, bars & restaurants. Sunbeds & parasols are available for hire at a daily charge along with water sports activities.
The beach also offers public toilets and outdoor showering facilities. Playa Chica is located in the Old Town, close to the Fariones Hotel. A small cove, popular with families and ideal to enjoy snorkelling & scuba diving. Sunbeds & umbrellas can be hired on the walkway just above the beach and there is a small kiosk for cold drinks & icecreams.
Playa Los Pocillios is a large, sweeping sandy beach situated between Puerto del Carmen and Matagorda that is more than one kilometre long and in some sections the width exceeds 200 metre. The surface has very little inclination, which is why pools sometimes for at high tide. Sunbeds and parasols are available for hire and a commercial centre sits behind for any refreshments required.
Playa Matagorda is the stretch of beach situated between Los Pocillos and the Airport. The coastline is separated by a ledge know as “Piedras de la Cima” and Playa Matagorda is about 850 metres of fine white sand, popular for windsurfing. This beach can be windy and of course very noisy when planes are landing and taking off and has proved to be a popular spot for plane spotting.
Playa Dorada is a located to the East of the resort, next to the Rubicon Marina and boasts a Blue Flag of the European Union. It is an artificial beach, about 350 metres long with white sand and crystal clear water. It is recommend for people of all ages, especially for children. Sun loungers and parasols can be hired and there is a fully equipped water sports team for any thrill seekers.
Playa Flamingo is a family beach, ideal for children, as it is protected by breakwaters. It is a very pretty beach with access to the promenade that leads in to the town. There is plenty of parking, sunbed and parsol hire and several bars & restaurants close by.
Papagayo beaches are probably the most well known in the south of the island located on the Los Ajaches Natural Park. There are six beaches accessed by a dirt road (small entrance fee required to enter by car): Playa Mujeres, Playa de la Cruz, Playa del Pozo, Papagayo, Caleta del Congrio & Puerto Muelas. All of them are with white sand and transparent waters and beautiful views of the neighbouring islands of Fuerteventura and Isla de Lobos.
Note that nudism is allowed on these beaches. There are only two restaurants located between the second & third beach so make sure you take what you need for the day.
Playa Cucharas is the most popular and central beach in the resort and is an ideal choice for families with young children. Plenty of facilities including sunbed hire, shower block an plenty of shops, bars & restaurants. This beach is also a favourite for wind surfers.
Playa Jabillo is a smaller, horseshoe shaped beach located in front of the Teguise Playa Hotel and perfect for swimming. Well protected from the wind, it offers a lovely spot for sunbathing. Bear in mind there are no facilities here. Playa Bastian is a five minute walk from Playa Jabillo which is surrounded by attractive gardens. It is a large beach with large stone “zocos” that protect you from the wind. T
here are excellent facilities including showers and WCs, sunbed hire and disabled access. Playa Ancla is also know as the “Playa del Rey” (Beach of the King) due to it’s close proximity of the Las Maretas residence, first owned by the King of Spain as a gift from King Hussein of Jordan.
It is a small, charming and quiet cove of sand and volcanic rock and is a delight for bathers and snorkellers. It is located away from the commercial centre of the resort in the direction of Arrecife.
Famara is a majestic beach and one of the most impressive landscapes of the island. From the road leading down to the village you can see the paradise that you are going to enjoy.
Set below the back drop of the Famara cliffs and views of La Graciosa it is a must visit for everyone. This quaint, sleepy village is now one of the most visited places on the island. The prevailing trade winds in the area make this beach ideal for surfing & kitesurfing. The undercurrents in the sea along this particular stretch of coastline are very strong so care must be taken with children and non-swimmers.
Caletón Blanco, Orzola is a secluded beach where small coves have formed and the white sands contrast with the black lava rock, calm waters are ideal for the whole family to enjoy. There are no facilities.
La Canterita is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island and is located just beyond the village of Órzola. While it boasts stunning natural beauty, it's important to note that this beach can be treacherous.
To ensure your safety, it's crucial to remain in the central area of the beach, as strong currents have the potential to carry you out to sea. Please exercise extreme caution when visiting.
Playa del Reducto is located in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote, at the base of The Gran Hotel.
The beach is about 500 metres in length and has a long avenue that borders the sea and coast with many facilities and services in the centre of Arrecife.
